Can I keep working while taking classes?
The program is designed for people currently working in schools during the school year period. Classes will be offered in the evenings during the fall and spring semester. During summer months, you will take classes full time. A stipend will be awarded to offset some costs during the summer. If you do not successfully complete your summer courses, you will be obligated to return the summer stipend.
How much does the program cost? If you complete the program and the three-year commitment following your certification, the instructional program is almost free. There will be minimal additional costs, such as tests, and other miscellaneous fees. Most materials will be provided by the grant.
Do I need to have access to the Internet?
Yes. You will need to be able to access the Internet regularly for a variety of assignments and for communication. Illinois State will provide you with additional assistance and instructions for use.
Do I have to travel far to take classes?
No. All classes will be offered at the University Center in Waukegan, IL. Additional supplemental support in training may require travel.
Am I guaranteed a job in my current school?
You are not guaranteed a job at your current school. You will be able to apply for a position at your school and within your school district, but if there are no openings you will have to find a position in another high-needs school district.
