Transitioning to the New Learning Standards for Math
The common core math standards were a state led initiative that resulted in new K-12 mathematics and English Language Arts Standards. The standards allow students to become increasingly more proficient in understanding and using mathematics with a steady progression leading to college and career readiness by the end of high school.
The K-8 Standards are presented by grade level. Each grade's introduction highlights critical areas and the standards are organized into domains that progress over several grades. The High School Standards are presented by conceptual categories (Number & Quantity, Algebra, Functions, Modeling, Geometry, Statistics & Probability).
