Dr. Venus E. Evans-Winters acquired her PhD from the University of Illinois @ Urbana-Champaign in the Department of Educational Administration & Foundations. Professor Evans-Winters teaches in the Department of Educational Administration & Foundations and is faculty affiliate in Women & Gender Studies and African American Studies at Illinois State University.

Dr. Evans-Winters' research interests are educational policy analysis, school resilience in urban contexts, Black girls' and women's schooling across the Diaspora, critical race theory and feminism(s). She is recognized for her research on urban girls and race-based trauma inside and outside of schools.
