Over the past two years, the Center for the Study of Education Policy (CSEP) has worked with six Illinois principal preparation programs to build their faculty’s capacity to evaluate and build a continuous improvement process into the functioning of their programs. On May 27, 2014 CSEP hosted a symposium with the participating principal preparation programs that presented their work on models of Continuous Improvement Processes (CIP) for principal preparation programs. The work of these six programs will be compiled into published articles. Attendees learned what the participating programs’ CIP models look like in terms of evaluation questions (both process and outcomes), indicators of quality and success, data collection and analysis strategies, and continuous improvement feedback loops that use assessment data to guide program faculty and staff in making program improvements. Attendees dialogued and shared ideas around program redesign strategies, policies and practices for principal preparation, and the continuous improvement processes shared at the symposium.
