We invite Honors students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and high interest in the education of exceptional children to participate in the Special Education Departmental Honors Program. This program is designed to challenge qualified students and to broaden their educational experience. Upon successful completion of this program students will have Departmental Honors Scholar designated on their diploma and final transcript.
Requirements for admission
Be admitted as a special education major in one of the sequences offered.
Complete four semesters of coursework at Illinois State University
File for graduate with honors through the University Honors Office during the first month of the semester you are graduating
Special Education Honors Students:
Will be given priority in pre-registering through the University Honors Office.
Will receive more individualized guidance in study and research interests in Special Education.
Will have the Departmental Honors Scholar designation on their diploma and official transcript.
Special Education faculty work closely with students choosing to pursue honors work, research, or early involvement in professional organizations. Department advisors guide students in designing individual plans of study.
