Applicant Information for Bilingual Paraprofessionals
- Be a current U-46 bilingual paraprofessional
- Have a two-year degree (or its equivalent) that meets Illinois State University’s general education requirements
- Have at least a 2.5 GPA
- Requires the completion of four teacher preparation courses at a local community college:
- Foundations of Literature for Children
- Exceptional Learner
- Structure of Number Systems II
- Explaining Human Behavior
- Have a passing score on the Test of Academic Proficiency (previously known as the Basic Skills Test).
- Submit a letter of recommendation completed by an immediate supervisor
- Agree to continue working as a U-46 paraprofessional or in-service teacher while enrolled in the program
- Agree to teach for three years in a high-needs school district or repay the stipend
