International Education
The Global Conversations Committee was a volunteer committee in the College of Education (COE) from 2015-2018. Faculty interested in working towards the University and college goals of internationalization met to identify international efforts of departments and faculty members that influence teaching, scholarship, and service. At this time, the committee no longer meets, but if you are interested in these efforts, please contact Barbara Meyer or Jennifer Dodson.
Some of the Global Conversations Committee's work included:
-
Global Classroom Activities: For ideas on how to include global activities in the teacher education classroom, please see what COE faculty are doing, and feel free to contact them for more information.
-
Illinois Global Scholar: The Illinois State Board of Education has approved rules for the Illinois Global Scholar Certificate. Illinois high school students will be awarded this certificate when they demonstrate and attain expertise in global competence. No new courses are required by a school district; rather, the focus is on existing curriculum, service learning, global collaboration, and a capstone project.
- Building a Global Educator: In order to meet the needs of K-12 students who may work towards the Illinois Global Scholar, or others who focus on international and global efforts, the COE will create a Global Educator Certificate for teacher education students.
