Master's in Reading

The Master's of Science in Education in Reading is a literacy instruction program for educators who teach reading and writing in kindergarten through 12th grade. Candidates complete coursework in literacy theory, content area literacy, and instructional strategies. The program prepares teachers to plan reading and writing curriculum, implement language-centered instructional strategies, and design effective assessment programs.

This degree leads to a Reading Specialist Certificate but not initial licensure. Licensure may only be obtained through a first or second bachelor's degree.
