Degree Requirements
Courses
The course of study requires satisfactory completion of the following core courses: TCH 416, TCH 440, TCH 442, TCH 445, TCH 449, and TCH 454. Some of these courses may apply as electives to a degree program. Information on admission is available from the School of Teaching and Learning.
Possible Schedule
Fall Semester
- TCH 440: Foundations and Management of School Libraries
- TCH 449: Selection and Use of Materials for the Elementary School Library
Spring Semester
- TCH 445: Information Literacy Instruction for School Libraries
- TCH 454: Selection and Use of Materials in the Secondary School Library
Summer Semester
- TCH 442: Organization and Access to Information in the School Library
- TCH 416: Technology and the School Library
Prerequisites
Prerequisites for all required courses are: “Certified teachers or consent of instructor."
Note: For students currently enrolled in the Library Information Specialist Program who were admitted under the previous 24 credit hour endorsement, you may continue with the new 18 credit hour program automatically by finishing courses to satisfy the new 18 credit hour requirement, effective Fall 2024. Because two courses are now phased-out from the new program (TCH 414 and TCH 440), it is advised that all students finish the program for the 18 credit hour requirement, if you are not finishing the program in Summer 2024.
