With Teach Chicago Tomorrow, Chicago Public School students progress from being a high school graduate to CPS licensed teachers in 5 steps.
1. Identify your passion in education.
- Submit the Teach Chicago Tomorrow Interest Form
- Students must graduate from the CPS family of schools with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
- Commit to return to CPS as a teacher
- Explore all the education majors at ISU: https://education.illinoisstate.edu/academics/
2. Choose your pathway!
Students can choose to come to ISU directly after high school or can choose a 2+2 path that allows them to attend City Colleges of Chicago for the first two years and then complete our easy ISU transfer process.

4 Year Program Pathway
- Apply for Admission to a Teacher Education Major at Illinois State University
- Accept your offer and complete your new student tasks: https://illinoisstate.edu/admissions/freshman-admitted/
- Explore resources available to you, or plan a visit to campus.
- Year 4: Be placed in a Chicago Public School for your year-long student teaching assignment

2+2 Program Pathway

Attend City Colleges of Chicago and then transfer to Illinois State University

- Year 1 & Year 2: Complete all coursework at City Colleges of Chicago as outlined in your program’s transfer guide
- Participate in the SEEDS program at City Colleges of Chicago which includes academic, social, and scholarship support
- Meet with ISU representative, Yadira Ramirez (ycramir@ilstu.edu) to discuss and plan your transfer timeline
- Year 3 Transfer to ISU’s home campus in Normal, IL and take coursework in your major.
- Year 4: Be placed in a Chicago Public School for your year-long student teaching assignment.
- Year 1 & Year 2: Complete all coursework at City Colleges of Chicago as outlined in your program’s transfer guide
