Illinois State University provides students with the opportunity to complete 21 hours of coursework in its core library information specialist, and 3 hours of electives. The core courses and potential electives are listed below:
Core Courses: TCH 414, TCH 416, TCH 440, TCH 442, TCH 444, TCH 445, and TCH 449 or TCH 454.
Online Electives: TCH 401, TCH 432, TCH 438
On Campus Electives: ENG 370, ENG 372, ENG 373, ENG 374, ENG 375, ENG 470
TCH 414: Introduction to School Librarianship should be taken by all students during their first semester. Other core courses do not need to be completed in any particular order.

Prerequisites for all required courses are: “Certified teachers or consent of instructor."
Prerequisites for TCH 432 and 438 are completion of TCH 401 or TCH 416, or permission of the program coordinator.
