Miranda is a professor of early childhood education. She received her Ph. D. in Early Childhood Education from Florida State University. Miranda has taught children of various ages in Florida, Taiwan, and China. She has presented her scholarly work worldwide and has more than 30 publications in early childhood education, service-learning, family engagement, multicultural education, teacher preparation, and global education. Miranda is also the co-editor of "Critical Issues in Early Childhood Teacher Education," Volume 1(US perspectives), Volume 2 (international perspectives), and Rekindling Embers of The Soul: An Examination of Spirituality Issues Relating to Teacher Education (2024). She was the PI of the Illinois Gateways to Opportunity® ECE credential competency project (2020 & 2021) and is currently the PI of the Illinois Early Childhood Faculty Preparation Grant (2023-2024). Miranda has brought over 1.3 million external grant dollars to support student learning.
