COE Study Abroad Scholarships for spring, summer, and fall 2024 have been awarded. The application for 2025 COE Study Abroad scholarships (funding travel for spring, summer, and fall 2025) will open in November 2024.

There is a single application for all three scholarships. You can view eligibility requirements and application questions for all three scholarships below.

The Jepsen International Scholars Program

Funded generously by Dr. Keith Jepsen and Ms. Kathy Dore, The Jepsen International Scholars Program will assist College of Education students (TCH, SED, EAF) with financial need to involve themselves in a diverse culture and language in its natural setting. Study abroad programs that emphasize learning a different language and culture are the preferred focuses of the Jepsen Scholars Program. College of Education Global Initiatives Scholarship Fund

The purpose of the College of Education Global Initiatives Scholarship Fund is to support study abroad opportunities for undergraduate and graduate College of Education majors in TCH, SED, and EAF. The scholarship focuses on first-time international travelers with demonstrated financial need. You can review eligibility requirements and application questions before you apply.

The Franson Anderson Endowed Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is for full-time students enrolled in the College ofEducation, preferably elementary education, and planning a career in teaching. Candidates must intend to use the scholarship to support expenses associated with international travel for academic studies, including student teaching, preferably during their senior year. You can review eligibility requirements and application questions before you apply.

University

The Hoon Mok Chung Undergraduate Scholarship is for undergraduate students who are preparing to study abroad in Asia, the Middle East, or South America. Candidates must be enrolled and in good standing, be a junior or senior at the time the award is given, have earned at least 30 credits at Illinois State, have a major GPA of 3.5 or higher, and demonstrate financial need. Students participating in a study abroad program during the summer must apply by March 1.
